Pupil Premium and Catch up Premium

Pupil Premium is an additional allocation of funding provided to educational institutions, with disbursement based on the number of pupils who have been eligible for free school meals (FSM) at any point during the preceding six years. The primary objective of the Pupil Premium is to address prevailing disparities among students, particularly those stemming from disadvantaged backgrounds, in comparison to their more economically advantaged counterparts.

At Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy, we are unwavering in our commitment to showcasing that educational attainment knows no socioeconomic bounds. We maintain a steadfast dedication to empowering all young individuals to achieve success in their unique capacities, irrespective of their socioeconomic backgrounds. Our consistent focus centres on enhancing our students’ aptitude for learning, fortifying their resilience, and cultivating their aspirations.

The Academy is resolutely dedicated to the principle of “Narrowing the Gap” for students who face economic disadvantages, with the Pupil Premium program playing an integral role in this endeavour. This commitment translates into a multi-pronged approach that encompasses the following facets:

  • Facilitating students’ seamless access to educational opportunities.
  • Enabling students to fully engage with the curriculum.
  • Offering supplementary support and interventions within the academy’s educational milieu.
  • Expanding students’ access to enriching activities designed to bolster their learning.
  • Elevating the ambitions of Pupil Premium students and their families.
  • Provision of essential learning resources such as information technology, books, or revision materials.
  • Financial contributions to educational outings and field trips.
  • Provision of additional tutoring and academic support.
  • Ensuring access to comprehensive pastoral services, including counselling, to enhance student well-being.

Through these measures, Ormiston Ilkeston Enterprise Academy aims to redress educational inequalities and create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment that empowers all students to thrive academically and personally.
