At KS3 the majority of pupils follow the same curriculum which is outlined below:

  • Maths 4 periods
  • Science 4 periods
  • Humanities 3 periods
  • MFL 2 periods
  • Technology 2 periods
  • PE 2 periods

Total 25 periods

Pupils with low literacy levels receive additional lessons to support them with this and therefore do not study a Modern Foreign Language (MFL). For the majority of subjects pupils are taught in mixed ability groups however in Maths, English and Science pupils may be placed into ability sets.

In addition to these periods pupils receive 1 period of PSHE a week which is on a rolling program and so takes the place of a different period each week. The PSHE program has 6 strands which are delivered to every year group and these are: British Values and Citizenship, Sex and Relationships; Careers; Health and Wellbeing; Drugs Education; Learning to Learn.
