Admissions


Our students will be admitted at age 11 without reference to ability or aptitude.

For September 2016 the number of places for Year 7 students is 196.

Where applications for admissions exceed the number of places available, the following criteria will be applied:

Those students who have a statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN). Those students who have brothers or sisters attending Ormiston Ilkeston or Ormiston Enterprise Academy at the closing date of applications. Those students completing their Year 6 education at one of our partner junior schools: Chaucer, Kensington and Hallam Fields schools. Those students who live nearest to Ormiston Ilkeston and Ormiston Enterprise Academy having the greater priority. The above criteria are subject to any change of admission arrangements made by the Secretary of State for Education.

All admissions follow the Derbyshire County Council admissions policy and applications are processed through them. If you wish to make an in year transfer to OIEA, the same procedures apply. Please visit the website below for more details.

OIEA welcomes contact from parents/carers who wish to have further information about the transfer of their child(ren) into the academy and advise an early contact with Mrs J Watkinson, Assistant Principal.
